Peer Review Process

All manuscripts submitted to Almana: Jurnal Manajemen dan Bisnis undergo a rigorous peer-review process to assess their academic quality, originality, and contribution to management and business research. The journal follows a double-blind peer-review process, in which the identities of authors and reviewers remain concealed from one another. Manuscripts are evaluated by experts in the relevant fields based on their scholarly merit, methodological soundness, and alignment with the journal’s focus and scope.

1. Initial Evaluation

Upon submission, the editorial team screens each manuscript to determine its suitability for the journal’s focus and scope and its compliance with the author guidelines and publication ethics policies. This assessment includes checks of manuscript structure, formatting, citation style, and textual similarity.

Manuscripts that fall outside the journal’s scope or fail to meet its academic and ethical standards may be rejected at this stage. Submissions requiring formatting adjustments may be returned to the authors for correction and resubmission. Manuscripts that satisfy the initial requirements proceed to external peer review.

2. Assignment of Reviewers

The handling editor assigns each eligible manuscript to at least two independent reviewers with expertise relevant to its subject matter and research methods. Reviewers are selected with consideration of their academic qualifications, institutional independence, and potential conflicts of interest.

To maintain anonymity, authors must remove identifying information from the manuscript, including author names, affiliations, acknowledgments, and statements of author contributions. This information must be provided in a separate title page file. Reviewers must disclose any potential conflicts of interest before accepting an invitation to review.

3. Review Process

Reviewers assess the manuscript’s originality, theoretical contribution, methodological rigor, analytical quality, clarity of presentation, and relevance to management and business scholarship. They provide constructive comments to help authors strengthen their work and recommend acceptance, minor revision, major revision, or rejection.

Reviewers are generally requested to complete their evaluations within two to four weeks of accepting the invitation. The review period may vary depending on the complexity of the manuscript and reviewer availability.

4. Editorial Decision

The Editor-in-Chief or designated handling editor makes an editorial decision based on the reviewers’ assessments and the manuscript’s overall academic merit. Possible decisions include acceptance, minor revision, major revision, or rejection.

When reviewers provide substantially conflicting recommendations, the editor may seek an additional independent assessment before reaching a decision. Authors receive the editorial decision and anonymized reviewer comments through the journal’s online submission system. The time required to reach a decision depends on reviewer availability, the extent of revisions, and the number of review rounds.

5. Revision Process

Authors invited to revise their manuscripts must address the reviewers’ and editor’s comments carefully. Revised submissions must include a manuscript with clearly indicated changes and a separate response letter explaining how each comment has been addressed. Where authors disagree with a recommendation, they should provide a clear scholarly justification.

Authors are normally given two weeks to complete minor revisions and four weeks to complete major revisions. Manuscripts requiring major revisions are generally returned to the original reviewers for further evaluation. Minor revisions may be assessed by the handling editor. Additional review rounds may be required if significant issues remain unresolved. An invitation to revise does not guarantee acceptance.

6. Publication

Following acceptance, the manuscript proceeds to copyediting, typesetting, and preparation for publication. Authors may be asked to clarify editorial queries and review proofs to ensure accuracy before publication. Publication is scheduled according to the journal’s production timeline.
